The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya is a public university that specializes in the fields of architecture, engineering, merchant seamanship, economics, health sciences and applied mathematics. The objectives of the UPC. BARCELONA TECH are based on internationalization, as it is Spain’s technical university with the highest number of international PhD students and Spain’s university with the highest number of international master’s degree students.


Barcelona is the main city in Catalonia, an autonomous region located north east of Spain. It has a surface of 32.000 m2 and a population of 7 million people. It is ruled by the autonomous government called Generalitat de Catalunya. Barcelona is a very attractive city to study and live in: it offers historical and architectural heritage, cultural activities, cosmopolitan nature and a privileged location by the Mediterranean Sea.

There are two official languages in Catalonia: Spanish and Catalan. Both of them share a common origin and they are spoken by almost everybody.

A block of rooms will be reserved at the Residencia Torre Girona, conveniently located near the Vertex Building where the lectures will be hosted. Rooms can be booked directly from the website. Cost per day is about 50 Eur.

Lunches and coffee breaks will be catered and served in the Residencia and are included in the registration fee.
