Travel grants

Some travel grants will be available for participants interested in contributing resource grammars for those languages (especially European) not yet part of the Resource Grammar Library. The list includes, but is not limited to:
  • Estonian
  • Latvian
  • Lithuanian
  • Irish
  • Czech
  • Slovak
  • Hungarian
  • Slovene
  • Portuguese
  • Greek
  • Maltese

To qualify for the grant, you need to complete the assignment described here below. We recommend that you first take the online course on GF grammars writing. The assignment should require a few days of work, perhaps a week. All submitted applications will be reviewed and ranked. The 10 grants will be distributed to the top ones.


  1. Build a directory and a set of files for your target language.
  2. Implement some categories, morphological paradigms, and syntax rules.
  3. Give the lin rules of at least 100 entries in Lexicon.
  4. Send us ({caprotti,aarne} at your source files and a treebank of 100 trees with linearizations in English and your target language.  These linearizations should be correct, and directly generated from your grammar implementation

Notification of acceptance: 15 May 2011

Other Sources of Funding

Perspective participants are encouraged to look for funding within their local agencies, national, regional, or academic. We  have estimated a total cost of 1000-1200 Euros for two weeks, including the travel cost.
